Fitness & Fatherhood
Hey everyone! I wanted to start a blog about my journey of being a new father while maintaining my healthy lifestyle. It's really important to me to continue to eat well and work out, while also being there for my daughter. Which begs the question - How do I plan to do that? The answer is I have no idea! But that's OK, it's why I'm writing this blog. I'm going to share my experiences as I try to figure it out. As of now my daughter is only a few weeks old, so my experience level as a father trying to balance these things nonexistent, so this should be interesting.
Before I get going too far along I'll have to give you some background. I'm married, and as I said I have a newborn baby daughter. I work full time and I commute about a half hour to an hour each day depending on traffic. Once my daughter is old enough I'll be the one taking her to daycare in the morning, so I'll have to leave a little earlier. My wife and I try to eat pretty healthy, so we cook most of our meals. Of course, I want to maintain this aspect of our lifestyle, and maybe have our daughter pick up on some of our good eating habits as she grows older. I workout most of the time in my garage which has been converted to a gym. I also on occasion ride my mountain bike and do some calisthenics at the park. Currently, I'm working out for about an hour, 4 days a week. So those are the parameters I'm working within.
So my goal is to continue with my current workout schedule along with eat well and of course be a great dad. I think this is going to be a really fun experiment. Not just to set some new goals and reach them, but also to document the process along the way. I think it will be a lot of fun to look back on this a few years from now and see how far I've come. I hope you enjoy following me on this journey as I figure out parenting. And if your a parent struggling to find that healthy lifestyle balance maybe you learn with me as I go along on this path. If nothing else, you can enjoy watching me fall on my face over and over again as I get this parenting thing figured out. Thanks for reading, and I'll see you all soon with an update.
